First Year Scheduling Recommendations
for Students Interested in the
Psychology Major

  1. See "Preliminary Notes" in Arts & Sciences for recommendations concerning a First Year Seminar and a Writing course.
  2. All Psychology majors should register for Introduction to Psychology PSYC 101S for their first semester. Contact the Chair of the Psychology Department if the sections are all full. Students who have AP/IB/AICE or transfer credit for PSYC 101S may take PSYC 201 or PSYC 203.
  3. Most Psychology majors use BIOL 121P as a "P" course. It may be taken at any time during their four years. Students who are Pre-Med/Health take BIOL 141P and BIOL 142P in place of BIOL 121P, and should take BIOL 141P during their first fall semester.
  4. Psychology majors satisfy the "Q" requirement by taking PSYC 321Q as a sophomore or junior. They do not need another "Q" course, unless it is required for a second major, minor, or Pre-Health.
