Maximum Credits Transferred or Awarded For Examinations

A maximum of 64 credits may be transferred from other institutions, or awarded for Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), or Cambridge AICE examinations. This includes credits earned in a high school/college Dual-Enrollment program. Credit earned in Stetson sponsored study-abroad programs are not included in the 64 credit limit.

There are School/College specific rules concerning the maximum number of credits or courses that may be used for a major, minor, or General Education requirements:

College of Arts & Sciences

Transfer credit or credit awarded for AP, IB, or AICE exams may be used to satisfy a maximum of 3 courses required for the major (this limit does not apply to collateral requirements in the major) or 2 courses required for a minor with permission from the department. More courses may be transferred, but those over the maximum number will count as electives.

No more than 3 courses from a single discipline (transferred and taken at Stetson) may be used to satisfy General Education requirements.

School of Business

A maximum of 2 transferred courses (8 credits) may be used for the major. At least half of the credit required for a minor must be taken at Stetson.

School of Music

The School of Music allows transfer credit for course work required in the major based on placement examination upon entry, portfolio review, and/or interview with the Dean of the School. At least half of the credit required for a major or a minor must be taken at Stetson.
