Creative Arts is one of six areas grouped together in a category called Knowledge of Human Cultures and the Natural World in the General Education requirements at Stetson University. The number of courses from the Knowledge category that you are required to take depends on the college or school that you are enrolled in.
Courses that meet the Creative Arts requirement develop your aesthetic awareness and your ability to interpret forms of cultural expression intelligently and critically. They are taught in a range of disciplines. The Creative Arts option may be satisfied by either taking a one-unit Creative Arts course in the College of Arts & Sciences, or by taking four one-credit music lessons or ensembles in the School of Music. The appropriate courses in the College of Arts & Sciences have an “A” tagged to the end of the three-digit course number. Departments offering these courses include:
If your major is in the College of Arts & Sciences and or the School of Business, then you may use 4 credits earned in Music courses with the prefix MC, MCA or MCE in place of an "A" course.
If your major is in the College of Arts & Sciences and it requires an "A" course you may use it to satisfy the Creative Arts requirement. There is the limitation that no more than three courses required for a major in Arts & Sciences may be used to satisfy General Education requirements.
