Multi-Generation Families Gather at Legacy Breakfast
The Meadows Alumni House was the setting for a Legacy Breakfast during Family Weekend in October. Students whose families have two or more generations of Hatter alumni/students were invited to attend with their parents and, in some cases, grandparents. Alumni Reconnect at Events in Raleigh, Atlanta, New Jersey & Jacksonville
The Alumni Relations Office hosted alumni events in Raleigh, N.C., Atlanta, Ga., Morristown, N.J., and Jacksonville this fall to give Hatters a chance to reconnect and find out what' s new on campus. Homecoming 2008 to Include Celebration of Sports
Homecoming 2008, set for next April 4-6, will offer several opportunities for sports lovers. An alumni soccer game is planned to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Men' s Soccer at Stetson. The annual Wes Berner Memorial Golf Tournament will continue. Strangers Before Dinner, Friends by Dessert
How would you feel about sharing a meal with 11 strangers? In late September, 30 students took a chance and attended a dinner or lunch with small groups of alumni and faculty as part of the Office of Alumni Relations' Dinners for 12 Strangers program. Fraternity Holds Farewell Gathering for Current Housing
Lambda Chi Alpha came home to Stetson for the "Last Blast at the Olde House" earlier this month. The Last Blast gave the fraternity's 1,003 initiates a chance to interact while giving Building No. 4 on Fraternity Row a proper sendoff. Read more...
College of Law Inducts 8 Members into Hall of Fame
The Stetson College of Law inducted eight new members into its Hall of Fame in October at the Gulfport campus, including Frances “Dolly” Rutledge Hand, LLB ' 49, a member of Stetson' s Board of Trustees. Mrs. Hand graduated from the law school when it was located on the DeLand campus. She and her husband have been active supporters of the university for many years. Read more...

Marketing Student Jessica Rafalowski is Miss Florida USA 2008
Florida will be represented in next March' s Miss USA pageant by Stetson senior Jessica Rafalowski, a marketing major. Rafalowski is the reigning Miss Florida USA 2008. Her platform includes involvement with the Stetson-based youth empowerment organization CAUSE (Campaign for Adolescent and University Student Empowerment). Read more...
Stetson Opens Doors at New Center for Service Learning
Stetson' s new Center for Service Learning was formally dedicated during the fall Board of Trustees meeting. Located on Bert Fish Drive, the center will be the home base for student-led initiatives in community service and academic service learning. Hatter Hoopla, the Hatter Invitational and Hatter Vision
Men' s basketball kicked off the 2007-08 season with a “Hatter Hoopla” celebration scrimmage and related activities for fans. To Chile, Home, and Back Again: Stetson Graduate Helps Children in Need
Helping children has been keeping alumna Jess Whitely ' 06 quite busy since graduating from Stetson. Through an organization called Voluntarios de la Esperanza, meaning Volunteers of Hope, Whitely spent three months earlier this year in Santiago, Chile, working in a school with autistic and ADHD children. McMahan Hall to be Built as Addition to Presser Hall
Alumni of the School of Music, as well as other graduates who participated in ensembles during their student days, are aware that the Music School has faced significant space constraints for some time. We have outgrown our Presser Hall facility! Plans are underway for Mary B. McMahan Hall, the 8,000-plus-square-foot addition that will be constructed to the south of Presser Hall.
