Q: How long are various programs?
A: The programs can be completed in 12-15 months.
Q: When do classes begin?
A: Classes begin each year in January and May.
Q: When do the classes meet?
A: Classes meet on Saturdays from 8:30 to 5:30.
Q: Is Stetson accredited?
A: Yes, all programs are NCATE, SACS and Florida Department of Education accredited.
Q: Can I take courses on both campuses?
A: Yes, the graduate programs in Educational Leadership are offered on two campuses, Deland and Celebration. Students are encouraged to take courses on the campus most convenient for them.
Q: Is it difficult to get admitted?
A: The graduate program in educational leadership is competitive. Basic requirements include a minimum of two years teaching experience, a teaching certificate, and one of the four below:
- a minimum undergraduate grade point average of 3.0, or
- a composite verbal and quantitative score of at least 1000 on the GRE, or
- 410 on the MAT
- earned master's degree from an accredited university
Q: What if my undergraduate grades are low or my test scores do not meet the standards?
A: The graduate committee, composed of program faculty members, makes decisions on all entering graduate students. They attempt to consider the whole person including references, work experience and background. Should you scores fall slightly short of our standards, you may still apply and the committee will consider all of the factors in your application; however, students with extremely low grades or scores cannot be encouraged to apply.
Q: Is a thesis required?
A: There is no thesis requirement.
