DeLand – Stetson University has received the highest ranking of any teacher education program in Florida, according to the annual report on teacher preparation programs from the Florida Department of Education.
The Teachers from Florida Teacher Preparation Programs
report ranks each teacher education program according to 14 measures. Stetson University ranked first in all 14 measures for which a program had 10 or more responses (considered the minimum number for data to be reliable). To gather the information, first year teachers, their principals, and their supervising teachers were asked how well their undergraduate colleges prepared them for teaching.
The Masters of Education in Educational Leadership program is designed to prepare educators for leadership positions. The program develops knowledge, skills, and dispositions that are essential for careers in educational administration. All courses prepare students for the Florida Educational Leadership Exam and address the Florida principal leadership standards and competencies.
The Masters in Reading Education program supports the right of every individual to learn to read. Teaching reading can be very satisfying. Our Reading Program leads to certification in reading and the ESOL endorsement. The degree also provides opportunities for employment as a reading coach, district reading supervisor, or local community college reading instructor.
Most of our degrees can be completed in just over a year. The curriculum is designed to be innovative, comprehensive, and meet State board and National Performance Standards.
