Women & Game Industry

Alumna Robin Koman to speak on the relationship between women and the video game industry from its inception to the present. This talk will look at the issue of gender through several different lenses: women as developers, women as consumers, and approaches to design tailored to the varied demographics of women now playing games.

Biography: Robin Koman is the Department Chair of the Game Design MS degree at Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida. In addition to her work as an educator, Robin is a professional game designer and author. As a game designer her work has included games for training, simulation, and education, for clients including the National Aeronautics & Space Administration and Philips Electronics. She has also been involved in a variety of projects for indie edutainment and entertainment games. Robin graduated from Stetson University after attending on a presidential scholarship, earning two degrees in four years (B.A. Theatre, B.S. Sociology). She is also a graduate of UCF’s MFA in Creative Writing. She has been nominated for Best New American Voices, and for the Pushcart Prize. She was most recently published in the inaugural edition of Duende.
