Auditions: Spring 2014

Auditions for the Spring 2014 Theatre Arts productions (Vinegar Tom by Caryl Churchill and Student-Directed One Acts) will take place Monday thru Wednesday, January 13-15 in Stetson’s Second Stage Theatre, 600 N. Woodland Blvd.

Auditions for Caryl Churchill’s Vinegar Tom:
a postmodern play with music.

Auditions for Actors:
Monday, January 13 from 3:30 – 5:30 and 7 – 9
Tuesday, January 14 from 3:30 – 5:30

Scripts of the play will be provided for you at auditions.  Those individuals interested in auditioning will be asked to read different scenes from the play.

Auditions for Singers:
Tuesday, January 14 from 7 – 9

Those individuals interested in being cast as a singer will be asked to perform a song of their choosing.  You will be asked to perform at least 16 measures, and an accompanist will be provided, so be sure to bring your own sheet music.  If you have pre-recorded music that you will be using, you will need to also provide the method for playing that music.

Play Synopsis:
Set in 17th century England, this play reveals the darker side of human nature when a man, recently spurned by a woman, seeks retaliation by accusing her of being a witch.  Women in this small town must find ways to defend themselves as witch hysteria takes hold.

Auditions for Student-Directed One Acts

Tuesday, January 14 and Wednesday, January 15 from 7-9pm

Auditions will be to cast a “company” of actors rather than individual one acts; readings and casting of each  one act will be done later in the semester from those chosen to be in the Company. Please prepare a 30-60 second monologue; for those who do not have their own, monologues will be provided for cold reading.
