The Stetson EMBA program offers, as part of its curriculum, a trip to an international city.  Given the global nature of today’s business environment, it is felt that our students need to be exposed to the differences in international business practices and environments in real time as opposed to in a classroom setting.  The trip is scheduled after the cohort has completed the majority of their course work so that they may appreciate the differences in applications across the diverse business disciplines.

Each year, a city is selected for the week long trip.  Selection criteria include the size and diversity of the industry within that city as well as the overall economic climate of the country.  The specific trip calls for the cohort to meet with multiple different representatives of the pre-selected companies.  These companies are chosen to provide the cohort with the opportunity to observe a variety of different industries as well as those that are local versus multinational.  The cohort meets senior executives of these companies so that a true exchange of ideas and questions result.

The trips have proven to be highly successful.  Many students, in their exit interviews, have listed the experience as one of the most rewarding of the entire program.  In addition to the educational component, many have cited the bonding that the cohort experienced while living and traveling abroad.
