Description: The analysis of global financial markets and economic conditions as they affect the multinational firm. Emphasis is placed on the goals of the multinational firm and risks that are present in operating in a global environment as well as managing those risks.
Core Competencies:
- Understand the goals of multinational corporations.
- Understand international financial markets, monetary systems, and international parity relationships.
- Understand factors that determine exchange rate behavior: spot and forward rates, government policy, economic conditions.
- Understand speculation and currency risk in foreign exchange markets.
- Measuring and managing exchange rate risk exposure, transaction risk exposure, and country risk exposure.
- Understand risk managment products, including: currency futures, options, and swaps. Understand the benefits of internationsl diversification.
- Understand the cultural, economic, legal, political, and institutional factors influencing international operations.
- Understand the problems of international organizations, including marketing, labor, and production policies and practices.
