Stetson Hall should never have been demolished.
Lived in Stetson Hall for all of my years at Stetson. Did my junior year at Livingston College (Rutgers University, New Brunswick) with a urban/intercity experience. Stetson Hall was truly where I grew, made friends, and prepared me for life. Keep students in the center of campus; they are the life of the school; administration & staff can walk to get their coffee.
A number of alums have expressed an interest in converting space from Stetson Hall to a combination admin office / Inn with architectural likeness of Stetson Hall. I am familiar with a number of colleges that have lodging facilities ON campus. It would draw more alums back, especially for the football weekends. Also, a great place to house recruits/ applicants. It could make money and serve as an admin facility. Sure wish SU would consider.

Above is the link to the Daytona Paper article. My freshman room was in this dorm in 1959-1960. I understand the decision but still hate that it had to go. I saw it when passing through DeLand last spring and with the deterioration of its charm over the years I can see why it was time to move on.
If anyone accesses the archives, look in the contributors’ index and under my name you’ll find photos of the dorm takenthen from outside and inside.
Here’s to Stetson Hall, where friends were made and memories left with me forever.
