Young Alumni gather for Hatter Happy Hour
A lot of exciting things happen when our alumni come together! It’s no surprise to find that Stetson alumni are hard at work staying connected to their university. Alumni Hatters help keep Stetson going as they get involved and make things happen! What have you been missing out on?

Off-to-School Parties
Over the summer, Alumni all across the state held parties welcoming the incoming Freshmen class to the Stetson family. Events were held in Jacksonville, Orlando, DeLand, Fort Lauderdale, Palm Beach, and Tampa. Alumni welcomed the new students and their families and shared their experiences at Stetson. Incoming students also had a chance to meet with current students while alumni sat and conversed with the new Stetson parents about what makes Stetson so special. By the end of the evening, the students had made new friends and were more prepared for their transition into college life at Stetson, thanks to the efforts of our alumni. Hatter Happy Hour & Young Alumni Happy Hour
Sometimes alumni just need to kick- back with fellow Hatters over nice cool beverages and catch up on what’s been going on since their years at Stetson. For many alumni, it’s been years since they’ve seen their Stetson peers. This is where Hatter Happy Hours come into play. Stetson alumni interested in hosting a Happy Hour set the date, time, and place to meet up and the Office of Alumni Relations will send out the invitations and finalize the plans. There have been over 7 Hatter Happy Hours since the month of June. Events have been held everywhere from Boston to Illinois, from Palm Beach to Pensacola. What’s stopping you from having one?
We didn’t forget our young alumni! Classified as alumni 10 years out from graduation, Stetson’s young alumni tend to fall off our maps as they go their way and forge their career path. To keep them connected with their peers we have monthly Hatter Happy Hours in DeLand just for our young alumni! It is a great way to keep in touch with your college comrades as well as a great way to network and form new connections professionally. Meeting Coach Hughes
Head Football Coach Roger Hughes has been traveling the country to meet Hatter alumni! He has traveled to meet alumni in Atlanta, GA, Miami, FL, Annapolis, MD, Jacksonville, FL, Chicago, IL, Tampa, FL, and four cities in California. He has gone to dinners with alumni, participated in Hatter Happy Hours, and attended Tailgate parties in preparation for the return of Hatter Football. Keep your eyes open! He may soon come to a city near you!
Dinner for 12 Strangers
This November, alumni hosted dinners for the newest generation of Stetson Hatters. This is a Stetson tradition that brings alumni, faculty, staff, friends, and students together in the comfort of the home. Each alumni host welcomed students into their home for dinner and conversation. Alumni shared how they chose their major, how they balanced their academics with a social life, lessons that they learned at Stetson and, how they discovered the path that led them to their current profession. Florida Citrus Sports Shootout, 11/28
On the last Monday night of this November, the Men’s Hatter Basketball team will face the University of Florida Gators for a Shootout. Show your Stetson pride! USF vs WVU Tailgate Party, 12/1
Have you had a chance to meet Coach Hughes yet? If not, or if you’d like to meet him again, be sure to come out to the University of South Florida vs West Virginia University Tailgate Party and Football Game! Talk with Coach Hughes about his plans and strategies for bringing Hatter Football back. This event will include a buffet consisting of everyone’s favorite pre-game foods: wings, pork, sausage, beef, sandwiches, beans, coleslaw, beverages, and more! Hatter Hoedown, 12/10
On Saturday, December 10, Stetson Athletics will host the Hatter Hoedown. This day-long event will include a golf tournament and a concert featuring the Sawyer Brown Band and other surprise celebrity guests! For more information, read the Stetson article here.
