The 10th Annual Mad Hatter Golf Classic
On Friday, April 20, Tampa Bay Hatters got out their golf clubs and made their way to Emerald Green Golf Resort and Country Club for the Annual Mad Hatter Golf Classic! Alumni, friends, and family gathered together to raise money for scholarships benefiting Tampa Bay area undergraduate and law students. Each tournament entrant was guaranteed a 2012 Summer membership with Paradise Golf and the inclusion of a coupon to Golfsmith, and a discounted rate stay at the Emerald Greens Resort. The tournament included lunch, range balls, a post-tournament dinner, awards, as well as a tax-deductible gift toward the Mad Hatter Classic Scholarship.

Jacksonville Hatter Reception at EverBank Field
On April 19, Stetson alumni, parents, friends, and students gathered for a Hatter Reception at EverBank Field. Special guests included President Wendy B. Libby, College of Law Dean Royal Gardner, Head Football Coach Roger Hughes, and a special appearance by Hatter Mascot John B.! Stadium tours were held at the beginning of the evening and were followed by a reception in the exclusive Terrace Suite. Over 225 Hatters were in attendance, making this event the largest gathering of Hatters that Stetson has had since Homecoming!

7th Annual Stetson Night with the Marlins
On April 14, Stetson alumni were among the first to set foot in the brand new Marlins Park stadium! The 7th annual Stetson Night with the Miami Marlins was during the first Saturday Spectacular in the new park. Hatter alumni reconnected with their fellow classmates while cheering on the home team in Miami. A fun time was had by all!
Alumni Tallahassee Reception
During the first week of February, Stetson alumni gathered at the home of Jay Landers ’64, JD ’70. President Wendy B. Libby, Head Football Coach Roger Hughes, and College of Law Dean Royal Gardner joined them there to celebrate the academic and athletic achievements taking place at the DeLand and Law campuses. These special guests gave alumni the latest updates on Stetson’s goals and accomplishments.

Leadership Stetson
Twenty five Stetson alumni came to campus in January for Leadership Stetson. They participated in several in-depth informational sessions held by Jeff Altier ’85, MED ’87, Director of Athletics, Colleen Cooper ’04, MBA ’07, Director of Alumni Relations, Max Cleland ’64, Hon. ’77, Hon. ’08, Bob Huth, VP of Business and CFO, and Rina Tovar, former Stetson VP for Campus Life and Student Success, among many others. “I had a wonderful experience at Leadership Stetson,” says Amy Rigdon ’05, JD ’08. “I left the weekend feeling reinvigorated and excited to serve the University in whatever capacity. The program truly renewed my passion for leadership in the community, which is a passion that Stetson always fostered while I was a student there. I will highly recommend the program to any potential participant.”

Naples Botanical Garden
On January 6, alumni and friends of Stetson gathered at Naples Botanical Garden to celebrate Stetson’s partnership with the garden through the Sandra Stetson Scholarship. This generous gift provides summer internships at the Naples Botanical Garden for select students studying environmental issues. President Wendy B. Libby, her husband Dr. Richard M. Libby, and over 60 alumni were in attendance that evening and presented Sandra Stetson Martinuzzi with a gift from the university. Click here to view photos of the event.

Head Football Coach Roger Hughes is Heading to California!
Mark your Calendars for Coach Roger Hughes return to California! He had such a great time meeting with Stetson alumni, parents, and friends in California last Fall that he’s coming back for round two in May! Enjoy some drinks and light appetizers with your fellow Hatters while you get the latest updates on the university and on Hatter Football. Sixth Annual SWFL Hatter Scramble
Save the Date for the SWFL Hatter Scramble! Stetson alumni, family, and friends are invited to participate in the tournament on Saturday, June 9, 2012 at Heritage Palms Golf and Country Club. Registration begins at 11:45 a.m. followed by a shotgun start at 12:45 p.m. Money raised at this tournament is for the SWFL Scholarship benefiting Stetson students from Charlotte, Collier, Hendry, and Lee counties. Homecoming 2012, November 2-4
As you may have already noticed, Stetson is not having Homecoming this Spring. That’s right! Homecoming has been moved to Fall in preparation for future Homecomings with the Hatter Football team. Be sure to come out this November 2-4 to re-connect with old friends and make new ones as classes gather for milestone reunions. Stop by and check out the newly established football fields along Amelia Avenue. You’ll even get a chance to watch a Hatter Football scrimmage while you’re here! Come be a part of the excitement!
