2012 Alumni Awards Ceremony

This Fall, seven Hatter alumni were honored during Homecoming weekend. Alumni Chris K. Brigham ’77, Richard W. Cheston ’79, and Shirrel Rhoades ’64 were awarded with the Distinguished Alumni Award. This award is given annually to Stetson alumni who, through outstanding achievement in their lives and professions, have brought distinction and special recognition to Stetson University. Avantika Hari Agrawal ’02 (not pictured above) and Amber DeChambeau Bragg ’02 were honored as this year’s Outstanding Young Alumni for their contributions to society, to their professions, and to Stetson University. They have demonstrated significant accomplishment and promise in their fields; leadership; and civic, cultural, and charitable involvement. Jim Beasley ’67, MA ’68 was given the Doyle E. Carlton Award in recognition of devotion to Christian higher education and in appreciation for his extraordinary contribution to the life and development of Stetson University, the City of DeLand, and the State of Florida. Read more here.

Sarah “Sally” Mathewes Sartain Jane ’62, one of Stetson’s newest Golden Hatters, was honored with the Distinguished Service Award. This award was given in recognition of her personal commitment to the ideals and objectives of the Stetson University Alumni Association and dedicated service and advancement of the goals of the University.
