duPont-Ball Library’s Mission

“The mission of the duPont-Ball Library and library faculty and staff is to support the educational programs of the University and to collaborate with classroom faculty in the development and support of the curriculum through gathering and organizing information both physical and virtual, teaching library users how to access and evaluate information, and providing an environment conducive to research and study.”

Government Documents Department Mission Statement

“The mission of the Government Documents Department is to serve the government information needs of the Stetson community and citizens of the 7th U.S. Congressional District by collecting and organizing government information and providing access, instruction, and reference assistance in the use of these materials.”

Library Instruction Department Mission Statement

“The instructional mission of the library is to initiate and support opportunities for faculty and students to develop technological, evaluative, and critical thinking skills in pursuit of lifelong information literacy.

Using a variety of methodologies, we will provide these initiatives in support of and in conjuction with the curricular and research needs of the University. We do this in the context of the Information Literacy Competency Standards of the Association of College and Research Libraries and the University mission which embraces the value of the centrality of knowledge, examined ideas, and independent judgment in the life of an educated person.”

Reference Department Mission Statement

“The mission of Research Services is to support the curricular, research, and professional needs of the Stetson Community by providing research material and teaching and assisting users to access, retrieve, and critically evaluate both physical and electronic information resources.”

Technical Services Department Mission Statement

“The mission of Technical Services is to support the curricular, research, and professional needs of the Stetson community by acquiring, organizing, and providing efficient access to information in all formats in support of the University educational mission.”
