Our Home Page, stetson.edu/library, provides links to almost everything you will need from off-campus.

Using the WebCat to Monitor Your Library Account

  • You can use the WebCat to monitor your personal account (which books and other Library materials you have checked out, for example), to place holds, and to make suggestions. You will need to get a PIN (personal identification number) to use some of these features. To receive a PIN, please email the Circulation Department (circdept@stetson.edu).
  • Then follow these instructions:

    1. Enter WebCat and choose "User Services."
    2. Click on "User Status Inquiry."
    3. Type your Stetson ID number (your 800 number with the dashes) in the "User Id" box.
    4. Type your PIN number in the "Pin" box.
    5. Click on "Display User Information."
    6. You will see "bills," "checkouts," "holds," and "requests/library messages."

    Library Materials by Mail

The "Library Materials by Mail" service is available only to students who are NOT enrolled for classes taught at the DeLand campus.

Books: If you would like to borrow a book that can be checked out (not a reference or other in-house item) that you have found on WebCat, the library online catalog, follow the procedures below.

PLEASE NOTE: Many public schools, organizations, and businesses have firewalls that prevent the submission of forms. If you get an error message when using the form, email your request (your name, mailing address, title and call number of books you need) to circdept@stetson.edu

      1. When you find the book in WebCat that you want to request, open it by clicking on the View button so that it is the only book on the screen. Go to the bottom of the screen and make sure that is says SHELVES under LOCATION. This tells you that the book should be available to you.

If it says CHECKED OUT, ON-ORDER, or INPROCESS, you may put a hold on the book, but there is no guarantee how quickly the book will be sent to you.
Placing Holds on library Books that are Checked Out, On-Order, or In Process.

If LOCATION says REFERENCE, you may not request the book. Other Locations may be GOVTDOC, VIDEO, DVD, PRESSER and these are loaned at the discretion of the librarians.

      2. Click on USER SERVICES at the top or bottom of the screen.

      3. Click on USER REQUESTS.

      4. Choose CELEBRATION STUDENTS REQUESTS FOR BOOKS.

      5. A request form will pop up. Scroll down to the call number and item ID field. This should be automatically filled in if you had the book or other library record on your screen when you clicked on request. If the information did not automatically transfer, you must fill in author, title, publisher, and publication date.

      6. You MUST fill in the following fields in order to process your request correctly:

        • Needed by: (for example, "ASAP" or "before 12/15/99")
        • Your Name: (John Doe)
        • Your E-mail Address: (jdoe@stetson.edu)
        • Mail Book To: (123 Hill Street, Apt. #19, Orlando, FL 32432)
        • User ID: (your Stetson 800 ID number; include the dashes)
        • Click on PLACE REQUEST.

If it is available for loan, the book will be mailed to you within 48 hours with a date that the book is to be returned. You will receive a mailing label so that the book may be returned by mail or you may return the book in person. Please note that you are responsible for returning the item and your student account will be billed for all items not returned. Please provide an email address so we can email you and let you know that the book has been mailed or let you know why we can not loan you the book.

Articles: If you would like to borrow a magazine or journal article from a journal that we own (check the Journals List to see if we own a journal), follow the procedures below. For articles from journals we do not own, see Interlibrary Loan.

      1. Go into WebCat. Click on USER SERVICES.

      2. Click on USER REQUESTS.

      3. Choose CELEBRATION STUDENTS REQUESTS FOR JOURNAL ARTICLES.

      4. A request form will pop up.

PLEASE NOTE: Many public schools, organizations, and businesses have firewalls that prevent the submission of forms. If you get an error message when using the form, email your request (your name, mailing address, and as much information about the article(s) requested that you can provide: title of article, title of journal, volume, issue, date, page numbers) to circdept@stetson.edu

Fill in all the fields to ensure that you get the article you need (if you don't know the ISSN/ISBN, that's ok).

      5. You MUST fill in the following fields in order to process your request correctly:

If you get an error message when using the form, email your request (your name, mailing address, and as much information about the article(s) requested that you can provide: title of article, title of journal, volume, issue, date, page numbers) to circdept@stetson.edu

If we own the journal and it is available for copying, the article will be mailed to you within 48 hours. Please provide an email address so we can email you and let you know that the article has been mailed or let you know why we can not send you the article.

Placing Holds on Library Books that are Checked Out, On-Order, or In Process

If a library book location is listed as CHECKED OUT, ON-ORDER or INPROCESS, you may place a hold on the book. There is no guarantee, however, how quickly the book can be sent to you. Use the following steps in WebCat:

      1. If you have a list of books on the screen, click on the VIEW button next to the one you want so that the book is the only one listed on the screen.

      2. Click on USER SERVICES at the top or bottom of the screen.

      3. Click on USER REQUESTS.

      4. Click on REQUEST THAT AN ITEM CHECKED OUT TO ANOTHER be Held for You."

      5. Fill in the USER ID box with your Stetson 800 ID number (with the dashes). If "User ID" says WEBSERVER, type over it.

      6. Type in your PIN number in the Pin box.

      7. Click on PLACE HOLD.

    Interlibrary Loans

At this time, we do not offer ILL for books to Stetson students at Celebration and St. Petersburg centers because of the time delays in multiple mailings. Your local public library should be able to do this for you.

We are happy to provide interlibrary loan service for journal articles. Please check the Journals List to see if we own the article before submitting an interlibrary loan request.

If you find citations to articles from journals that the duPont-Ball Library does not own, you may request them using this Interlibrary Loan Form. You may also use this form to request copies of articles held on the DeLand campus. Just note in the REMARKS section that Stetson holds the title and you are a Celebration student.

In your message requesting an Interlibrary loan, give the FULL citation information on the journal article (author, title of article, title of journal, volume, issue, date, and page numbers). Incomplete information may result in a delay in getting your article. Give your FULL name and FULL address so that the article can be mailed to you. Be sure to let us know that you are a Stetson student at Celebration. Include your email address. ILL requests with incomplete personal information will not be processed.
