Drombeg Stone Circle, County Cork, Ireland Drombeg (literally, the "small ridge") stone circle is one of Ireland's most famous and popular neolithic sites. It is also known as the Druid's Altar, although it was certainly nothing of the kind--at least in its origin. The site has been cleaned up and reconfigured over the past 100 years. This photo was taken by Peter O'Toole. |
