Dolmen "Anta do Barrocal" near Evora, Portugal.

This large dolmen rests on a promontory and has seven orthostats, each about 6 feet high. It faces due east, vernal equinox sunrise. The dolmen is on a ranch called "Barrocal," which is on the main highway to the southwest from Evora toward Nossa Senhora da Tourega. Its GPS coordinates are 38 N 30.475', 8 W 00.333'. The site is at an elevation of 785 feet and has a smaller sister dolmen across the dirt road to the south. Two of the support orthostats are remarkable for the ribbons of quartz crystal that run the lengths of the stones.
