Following Jane Goodall's visit to Stetson University in the spring of 2000, it was decided that the environmental group on campus, Green Stetson, would take on the mission of Roots and Shoots. Since then, Stetson University's chapter has been volunteering time in each of the three areas of concern - environment, animals and community.

Our mission is to foster respect and compassion for all living things, to promote understanding of all cultures and beliefs and to inspire each individual to take action to make the world a better place for the environment, animals and the human community.

Our goal is to implement positive changes through active learning about, caring for and interacting with the environment.

Demonstrating care and concern for all animals

Enhancing understanding among individuals of different cultures, ethnic groups,religions,socio-economic levels and nations through our global communications network

Helping young people develop self respect, confidence in themselves and hope
for the future.

Our activities at Stetson University focus on the three areas of the program:

  1. Care and concern for the environment
  2. Care and concern for animals
  3. Care and concern for your community.
