As Director of the duPont-Ball Library at Stetson University, I have the honor of working with a very talented and dedicated team of library faculty and staff.  I work closely with Associate Director Susan M. Ryan and Head of Technical Services Debbi Dinkins.   We have been promoting the Stetson University Library Associates, a group of alumni, faculty, staff, and friends who support the Library's goals and objectives to optimize services and materials for our students.

I have been active in the Florida Library Association, serving on the Board several times and as President 2001/02.  FLA is a very proactive organization promoting libraries of all types and the interests of librarians and library staff and volunteers.  I currently serve on the Florida Library Network Council and serve as chair and fiscal agent for the ICUF (Independent Colleges & Universities of Florida) Libraries Group.  I was elected to the Board of Directors of the Central Florida Library Cooperative in the fall of 2006.

I received my MLS from Columbia University in 1964 and my M.A. in History (1962) and B.A. in History with a Spanish minor (1959) from Stetson University.

Non-professional interests include travel and antiques.  I have served on the Boards of the DeLand Cultural Arts Center and the DeLand Museum of Art (now the Museum of Florida Art) and am currently again on the Cultural Arts Center Board

A member of the League of Women Voters for decades, I joined the Board of the League of Women Voters of Volusia County several years ago.  I developed a website for LWVVC and continue to serve as the webmaster for this organization as well as a Board member.

A few of my favorite free sites are:
Bookfinder an out-of-print book search engine
Google's advanced search engine

Library of Congress
The Florida Memory Project

The American Memory Collection offers more than 7 million digital items from more than 100 historical collections relating to the history and culture of the United States.  The latest added is sheet music, 1820-1885.

A recent favorite is the Florida Digital Newspaper Library, a project at the University of Florida which is gradually adding digital images of issues from historic and current Florida newspapers.  For example, they have issues of some newspapers from DeLand 1903-1905, and 1909.
