Dr. ElAarag obtained her Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Central Florida in 2001. She has been a member of the faculty of Computer Science at Stetson University since August 2002. Her research interests include computer networks, computer architecture, modeling and simulation and performance evaluation.
Dr. ElAarag has taught at the University of Central Florida and Alexandria University. She has worked for the Institute of Simulation and Training and the Center for Advanced Transportation and Simulation Systems at the University of Central Florida. She has also worked for the Center of Image Processing and Integrated Computing at the University of California, Davis .
Dr. ElAarag has been inducted to the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, December 1999 and to the Honor Society in the Computing Sciences, Upsilon Pi Epsilon, April 1997. She has received the University of Central Florida Prestigious Graduate Merit Fellowship award for academic year 2000/2001, Stetson's University Hand Award for Research 2005 and Best Paper Award 11th Communication and Networking Symposium (CNS.08), Spring Simulation Multiconference.
Dr ElAarag is the local chair of the 2010 International Modeling and Simulation spring Multiconference SpringSim 2010. Co-General Chair of the 12th Communication and Networking Symposium which is part of SpringSim'09 , and Program Chair of the Communications and Networking Simulation Symposium (CNS'08). She has been a member of the technical committee of multiple international conferences
Dr. ElAarag is a reviewer for multiple journals including the Computer Communication Journal by Elsevier publishing, the Journal of IEEE Communications Letter, the International Journal of Modeling and Simulation, the Journal of Wireless Communications and Mobile Computing, and the IEEE Network and IEEE Computer Magazines. She is also a reviewer for multiple conferences including IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking Conference, IEEE International Conference on Communications, ACM Southeast Conference, the IEEE Workshop on Dependability and Security in Sensor Networks and Systems, the International Conference on Quality of Service in Heterogeneous Wired/Wireless Networks,International IEEE Conference on Intelligent Transportation Systems, among many others. She organized an invited session on wireless/mobile communications in the Conference on Systemics, Cybernetics and Informatics, Orlando, FL, July 2002.
Dr. ElAarag served as a session chair at multiple conferences including Communications and Networking Simulation Symposium, CNS, which is part of the Modeling and Simulation International Spring Multiconference, in 2006, 2007 and 2008, the IEEE Southeast Conference in 2007 and the Annual Stetson Undergraduate Research and Creative Arts Symposium at Stetson University
Dr. ElAarag is a member of Florida Office of Women in Higher Education (FLOWHE, the Council on Undergraduate Research and Stetson University Undergraduate Research Committee. She is the Faculty Advisor of the ACM student chapter at Stetson University and the organizor of the Annual Invitational High School Programming Contest since 2005.
