About Me

Jason Martin

In 1998 I received my BA in History from the University of South Florida. After a few years spent as a substitute teacher and retail music store clerk, I decided to pursue a Master’s degree in Library and Information Science. I received my MLS in 2001 while also working as a graduate assistant at the University of South Florida Tampa Campus Library. In January of 2011, I successfully defended my dissertation titled "In the Process of Becoming: The Organizational Culture of the Metropolitan Academic Library," and was awarded my Ed.D. in Educational Leadership, Higher Education Policy Studies from the University of Central Florida.

I took my first professional job as an Assistant Librarian at Louisiana State University Troy H. Middleton Library in January of 2002. In October of 2003 I started working as an Instructor Librarian at the University of Central Florida Libraries, and I served as the Interim Department Head of the Curriculum Materials Center (CMC) at the UCF Libraries from July 2009-July 2012. While at UCF, I was successfully promoted twice: from Instructor to Assistant Librarian and from Assistant to Associate Librarian.

In July 2012 I became the Head of Public Services at the duPont-Ball Library at Stetson University. I oversee the Reference, Circulation, and ILL departments as well as facilities management.
