This is a hands-on computerized exam which allows all Stetson business students to exempt the required MIS191 (Introduction to Information Technology) course. You must either pass this test or take the MIS191 course in order to meet the prerequisite for the BN201, BN202, DS280 and MIS350 courses. If you pass this test, the requirement will be fulfilled, but no credit hours will be granted. It is possible to take/retake this exam at a later testing time.

This two hour, closed book exam will examine the students level of knowledge in the following topic areas:    Word, PowerPoint, Excel using MS Office 2007. General questions about Office and the Internet Explorer are also possible.

The student must purchase a printed access code (PIN #) from the Stetson bookstore or an instant access code (PIN #) sent via email from www.ichapters.com in order to take this exam. It is included in one of the following packages. Please do not wait until too late to purchase it in-house, as we do not stock a lot of them and they may have to be ordered! Also, you cannot test with a previously used PIN # from another student. However, if you fail the exam or a part of the exam, you may use the same PIN # again for a later testing date.

NOTE: All of these PIN # packages contain the ability to do training on the material online. However, it does NOT run on a MAC - only on PC's.

From our Bookstore: (buy in person)

Note: This PIN # cannot be used for the MIS191 course if you fail the exam and decide to take the course. The one below contains projects, which will be used for part of your grade. If you do not feel particularly confident about your knowledge of the material, I would NOT purchase this PIN #.

Instant Access Code for SAM 2007 Version 4.0 Assessment (Testing) and Projects
ISBN: 1-4390-4406-6

This is the PIN # that will be used for the MIS191 course.

Each student will use the PIN # to register his/her name with our testing software. To download any necessary files on a PC and setup a testing or MIS191 class account:

  1. Follow the instructions found inside the package you have purchased. You will need internet access to do this. You will be working from sam2007.course.com
  2. It will ask you for our Stetson Institution Code, which is V7104948.
  3. It will next ask you for the PIN number found inside the package. This is case-sensitive, so carefully enter this code.
  4. You can then enroll yourself and create a userid and password. I suggest using the same password and userid that you use to log on to Stetson's computers.
  5. You must then join the MIS191 - Exemption Exam section.
  6. You will find training exercises available under the Assignments button after you are logged in.
  7. You would now be ready to sign up and take the exam in the lab on one of the above dates.
