Moscow patriarch regrets division of Ukraine

PATRIARCH KIRILL "PREDICTED" FALL OF UKRAINE IN HIS CHRISTMAS INTERVIEW

Portal-credo.ru, 9 January 2015

The primate of RPTsMP, PatriarchKirill, thinks that the conflict in Ukraine, whose escalation the Russian leadership supports, may become the cause of the fall not only of the Ukrainian state but also of its people. He stated this on 6 January in his traditional Christmas interview on television channel Rossia-1, TASS reports.

"What is happening today in fraternal Ukraine that is near to my heart is a real division of the people. The Lord himself says that the kingdome that is divided within itself will not stand," Kirill said.

In the opinion of the primate of RPTsMP, in Ukraine one group of people "has practically deprived another group of people of all right," and "one political doctrine, arguing for its correctness, is using weapons."

Kirill thinks that people should realize that "even while belonging to different groups that have an attitude toward history and the present that are different from one another, it is possible to build a peaceful life together." "God grant that this understanding will take root in the consciousness of the leaders of Ukraine and of all Ukrainian society," he concluded.

As reported earlier, on 22 December, Kirill awarded church medals to the chief propagandists of the Kremlin. In particular, the general director of the All-Russian State Television and Radio Company, Oleg Dobrodeev (channels Rossiia 1 and Rossiia 24) and the general director of the Russian International Information Agency Russia Today, Dmitry Kiselev.
