YOUNG GUARD ACTIVISTS CONDUCT PICKET AGAINST CONSTRUCTION OF "MORMON TEMPLE"
Portal-credo.ru, 17 February 2015
Activists of the local division of the pro-Kremlin movement Young Guard conducted a picket on 13 February against the construction of a new building of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Mormons) at the intersection of Pisarev and Shamshin Family streets in Novosibirsk.
About ten persons participated in the picket. They held placards in their hands: "Youth against building temple for Mormons in Novosibirsk," "Mormons? Good-bye," "Mormons—Not our style," "Novosibirsk against Mormons," and "No to totalitarian sects," and they chanted "Mormons, Not our style."
According to the organizer of the event, Ilia Gnatush, "we decided to conduct the action of protest after it became known that a parcel of land had been allocated for construction of a Mormon temple in Novosibirsk."
"Under the guise of free classes in the English language recruitment into the sect goes on and it is very clearly said that one must fulfill the instructions of the elders and so forth. They have a clear hierarchical system and some of the leadership of the USA are Mormons, but that is alien to us and to our youth," Gnatush said. (tr. by PDS, posted 17 February 2015)
