Jehovah's Witnesses congregation may be closed for evangelistic tracts

JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES FINED IN KRASNODAR TERRITORY

A member of a congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses was fined on the basis of article 20.29 of the Code of Administrative Violations of Law in April 2015 in Tikhoretsk of Krasnodar territory.

 

On 8 April 2015 it was reported that a member of the city's community of Jehovah's Witnesses was fined on the basis of article 20.29 of the Code of Administrative Violations of Law (distribution of extremist materials) in Tikhoretsk of Krasnodar territory. The size of the fine was not reported.

 

The violation of law was deemed to be the distribution of Witnesses' literature: books and brochures "How to achieve happiness," "Government, free from corruption," "What is necessary to know about God and his intention," "How to develop close relations with God," and "On what can people place hope," which are included in the federal list of extremist materials.

TIKHORETSK REGIONAL PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE ISSUES WARNING TO JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES RELIGIOUS ORGANIZATION

By a ruling of a court, a member of the religious organizations of Jehovah's Witnesses was held administratively responsible by means of a fine for mass distribution of the books (materials), "How to achieve happiness," "Government, free from corruption," "What is necessary to know about God and his intention," "How to develop close relations with God," and "On what may people place their hope," which are included in the published federal list of extremist materials.

 

In order to take preventive measures on this matter, the Tikhoretsk regional prosecutor issued a written warning to the leader of the religious organization of Jehovah's Witnesses of the city of Tikhoretsk regarding the impermissibility of conducting extremist activity; otherwise the question of the liquidation of this organization may be considered.
