THREE RELIGIOUS ORGANIZATIONS RECEIVE WARNINGS FROM RF MINISTRY OF JUSTICE FOR VIOLATION OF LEGISLATION

Interfax-Religiia, 8 May 2015

As a result of inspections in the current year, the Russian Ministry of Justice imposed sanctions on three of five religious organizations in whose activity violations of Russian legislation were discovered, an account posted on Friday on the website of the ministry says.

In the course of inspections, questions arose for inspectors regarding the Central Conference of the Russian Association of the Methodist Church, the Kuban Association of Christians of Evangelical Faith, the "Word of Life" Fellowship of Churches of Christians of Evangelical Faith, the Evangelical Lutheran Church of the European Part of Russia,' and the "Kingdom of God" Association of Christians of Evangelical Faith.

With regard to the first association, a protocol was drawn up on the basis of article 19.4 of the Code of Administrative Violations of Law of RF (disobedience to a lawful order of an official of an agency conducting government monitoring—entails a warning or a fine of citizens in the amount from 500 to 1,000 rubles or of officials, from 2,000 to 4,000 rubles). Representatives were issued a warning to eliminate the violations by 29 May.

For the four other organizations, claims were issued because of various violations of the law in activities stipulated in their charter.

Two of them, the Kuban Association of Christians of Evangelical Faith and the "Word of Life" Fellowship of Churches of Christians of Evangelical Faith, were issued warnings and the deadlines for eliminating the violations were set (by 23 June and 27 July respectively).

As regards the Evangelical Lutheran Church of the European Part of Russia and the "Kingdom of God" Association of Christians of Evangelical Faith, the ministry did not impose any administrative measures with respect to them.

From the account it follows that scheduled inspections were conducted in February to May to establish compliance of the activity of the organizations, including expenditures of financial resources and use of property, with the aims set by their charters and with the legislation of the RF.
