In the night of 23-24 May, the hospital church of the Holy Martyr Panteleimon was set on fire.
The arson was committed by unidentified persons on two sides of the church building. The fire brigade, which arrived on the call of a bystander, managed to quench the blaze. The Vladimir-Volynsky diocese notes that one week before the incident, an article was published in the local newspaper, Izvestiia Kovelshchiny, in which a call was sounded to local authorities to transfer to the jurisdiction of the so-called UPTsKP one of Kovel's hospital churches.
