Ukrainian and Russian Orthodox leaders get together

ON PATRIARCH KIRILL'S NAME DAY METROPOLITAN ONUFREY DESCRIBED HOW HE SPEAKS "BOLDLY" WITH  UKRAINIAN AND RUSSIAN AUTHORITIES

Religiia v Ukraine, 26 May 2015

On 24 May, the memorial day of Saints Equal-to-Apostles Cyril and Methodius and also the name day of Patriarch of Moscow and all-Rus Kirill, Metropolitan of Kiev and all-Ukraine Onufrey visited Moscow, Religiia v Ukraine reports, citing the website of the UPTs Kiev metropolitanate.

The primate of the Russian Orthodox Church celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the cathedral church of Christ the Savior in Moscow.

At the liturgy, the head of UPTs concelebrated with the head of RPTs. At the end of the liturgy a prayer service was performed with a prayer of thanksgiving for the name-day celebrant.

Metropolitan Onufrey read a congratulatory message from the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church.

Then Vladyka Onufrey added: "For myself, I personally want to thank Your Holiness for your compassion and cooperation that you display toward us, your loyal servants who are conducting their obediences within the borders of the Ukrainian land. The Ukrainian Orthodox Church, which is a part of the Moscow patriarchate, actively serves God and its people, and we continually raise prayers for peace in our land. We also raise a bold voice to those who are in authority in Ukraine and to those who are in authority in Russia, that they should do everything possible and devote every effort so that a blessed peace will settle in on our land. May the Lord save you, Your Holiness, for your prayers and for your participation in our trials. May the Lord help you in bearing your cross. (tr. by PDS, posted 28 May 2015)
