On 18 June 2015, a parish meeting of the church community of the Protection of the Most-Holy Mother of God of the village of Mikhalkov was held, at which parishioners by an absolute majority of votes chose to leave the jurisdiction of UPTs of the Moscow patriarchate and transfer into the jurisdiction of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kiev patriarchate.

On 19 June, at the request of parishioners and also on the basis of the decision of the meeting regarding the transfer of the parish of the Protection of the Most-Holy Mother of God of the village of Mikhalkov of the Kolomya deanery of UPTsMP into the jurisdiction of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kiev patriarchate, the ruling bishop of the Kolomya diocese, Bishop of Kolomya and Kosov Yulian, received this parish into the Otyniia deanery of the Kolomya diocese.

On 21 June 2015, on the Sunday of Pentecost, the divine liturgy was celebrated for the first time in the Ukrainian language in the church of the Protection of the Most-Holy Mother of God in the village of Mikhalkov, which, with the blessing of Vladyka Yulian, was served by the director of the press service of the Kolomya diocese, Priest Vitaly Kozak.

At the conclusion of the liturgy, Priest Vitaly Kozak delivered greetings, a blessing, and thanks from His Eminence Bishop Yulian to parishioners, who in this time that is so difficult for our country made the considered and correct decision and joined the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kiev patriarchate.
