PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE REFUSES TO INITIATE CRIMINAL CASE AGAINST ENTEO
Nezavisimaia gazeta, 7 September 2015
The prosecutor's office denied police requests for initiating criminal proceedings on a charge of "Vandalism" against the leader of the Orthodox movement God's Will, Enteo, who in August of this year conducted a pogrom in an exhibit in the Manezh. This was reported to TASS by a source within law enforcement agencies.
"Police personnel issued a petition to the prosecutor's office for initiating a criminal case on a charge of 'Vandalism' against the leader of the Orthodox movement 'God's Will,' Dmitry Tsorionov (Enteo) and his companions. However representatives of the regulatory agency refused to agree to initiate a criminal case," the news agency's interlocutor said.
On 14 August, representatives of God's Will burst into an exhibit "Sculptures that we do not see" in the Manezh of Moscow and declared that the displays hurt believers' feelings. Several works were damaged. The museum community, represented by the Union of Museums of Russia, IKOM of Russia, and directors of the largest federal and regional museums, spoke out in favor of the exhibit and expressed the conviction that exhibit halls and museums must be protected from actions as the result of which works of art are damaged.
