MILITANTS OF "LPR" RELEASE PASTOR OF EVANGELICAL CHURCH
Religiia v Ukraine, 2 October 2015
In the city of Sverdlovsk of Luhansk province, militants of the self-proclaimed "LPR" [Luhansk People's Republic] set free a pastor of a local church of Christians of Evangelical Faith who had been held in captivity for 4 days, Religiia v Ukraine reports, with a reference to the Institute of Religious Liberty.
Pastor Taras Sen, who had been detained by militants, was released on 27 September. From the start of the Russian aggression against Ukraine, the pastor became one of the most active clergymen who began providing pastoral care and social aid to needy residents of the occupied territories of the Donbass.
It should be noted that on 29-30 September 2015 a conference of the OSCE was held in Warsaw on problems of crimes based on hatred, discrimination, and persecution of Christians and other believers, where the incident involving Pastor Taras Sen was mentioned.
Earlier rights advocates presented a report "When God becomes a weapon," which includes incidents and testimony of victims and eyewitnesses of religiously motivated persecutions that have been committed by separatists in the Donbass who are supported by Russia. (tr. by PDS, posted 2 October 2015)
