CHELIABINSK POLICE CONFISCATE EXTREMIST LITERATURE FROM TWO MEN
MVD of Russia for Cheliabinsk province, 18 November 2015
Agents of the "E" Center of the Main Directorate of the Russian MVD for Cheliabinsk province seized from a 31-year-old native of Krasnoarmeisk, who had previously been convicted, and a 30-year-old native of Kunashak district religious literature with extremist contents of the organization Hizb ut-Tahrir al-Islami, which is prohibited in Russia.
The detainees explained that the literature did not belong to them. They were given it to read by one of the parishioners of the mosque. The men claimed that they did not know that this literature is prohibited.
At the present time, police personnel are establishing the identity of the person who transmitted these brochures, as well as all circumstances of what occurred.
Hizb ut-Tahrir al-Islami ["The Islamic Party of Liberation"] is considered in Russia to be a terrorist organization on the basis of a decision of the Supreme Court and participation in the organization is punishable as a crime. (tr. by PDS, posted 18 November 2015)
