JEHOVAH'S WITNESS FINED FOR UNSANCTIONED EVENT IN BASHKIRIA
A Jehovah's Witness was held administratively accountable in Bashkiria. Rustem Nabiullin, a devotee of the public organization, took part in an unsanctioned public event.
According to information from the Uchalinsk prosecutor's office, in February 2016, near the mall Eurasia, Nabiullin acquainted citizens with the activity of the religious organization of Jehovah's Witnesses. While doing this he used stands and printed materials. At the same time he did not have permission from the authorities for organizing such an event.
As a result, the activist was fined 10,000 rubles. The prosecutor's office emphasized that originally the fine amounted to 15,000 rubles, but the Supreme Court of the republic of Bashkiria ruled that this punishment was much too severe and reduced the amount. (tr. by PDS, posted 21 May 2016)
