RALLY AGAINST CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS HELD IN SEVASTOPOL
Sevastapol-- Informatsionyi Mediaportal, 28 June 2016
Mormons are followers of the teachings of Joseph Smith. He organized the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Young people in unostentatious clothing offer to all comers the study of "their" Bible. It promotes the family as the most important thing in life. However, if any of the spouses are not adherents of the teaching, their marriage must be dissolved. Also Mormons are opponents of higher education.
There also are adherents of this religion in Sevastopol. But there are opponents, too. Five persons stood assembled with placards in their hands for a short time. Their actions were not approved by the city government.
The official request for permission proposed 70 participants in the rally. Then the list was corrected to 7 persons. A representative of the government maintains that the unsanctioned picket is nothing other than a means for creating religious conflict.
Representatives of the Church of Latter-Day Saints themselves did not provide a comment. And they prohibited taking pictures on the site of services. (tr. by PDS, posted 1 July 2016)
