IN UKRAINE 20% OF RESIDENTS ATTEND EASTER SERVICES, IN RUSSIA LESS THAN FOUR

In Ukraine more than 7.8 million persons (of a total population of about 45 million) participated in Easter services. The leaders in number of believers were the churches of Dnepropetrovsk province. According to police estimates, services in this region were attended by about a million persons, "Apostrof" reported on 16 April with reference to the Department of Preventive Activity of the Ukrainian national police.
In second place in term of number of participants in services in Ukraine is Lvov province. In this province, 830 thousand persons attended churches. Easter services in Ternopol and Odessa province were attended by 650 and 620 thousand persons, respectively.
More than 23,400 police provided security during Easter events.
At the same time, according to data from Interfax, in Russia Easter services were attended by 4.3 million persons, which is less than 4 percent of the total number of residents of the country (about 147 million). (tr. by PDS, posted 17 April 2017)
