Court endorses confiscation of Jehovah's Witnesses' headquarters

SESTRORESK DISTRICT COURT LEGALIZES SEIZURE OF FOREIGN PROPERTY

Jehovah's Witnesses in Russia, 7 December 2017

On 7 December 2017, after a four-hour judicial session, the court announced its decision—to find a seventeen-year-old deal to be invalid. If this decision remains in force, it could entail a reversion of a large piece of real estate in the village of Solnechnoe (St. Petersburg) into state income. The decision casts a shadow on the inviolability of property rights in the Russian federation, where no organization, even on an international scale, can be assured of its transactions, even if they are officially registered by appropriate agencies.

All property of the Jehovah's Witnesses that is being seized has been dedicated to Jehovah God, and therefore they believe that it belongs to God and is being taken from him. As the Bible directs, Jehovah's Witnesses cast all their cares upon God (1 Peter 5.7). (tr. by PDS, posted 12 December 2017)
