LVOV
DEPUTIES
URGE UKRAINIAN AUTHORITIES TO EXAMINE WHETHER UPTsMP HIERARCHY
WORKS FOR
RUSSIAN F.S.B.
Portal-Credo.ru,

December 2017
The
Lvov
provincial council addressed the cabinet of ministers, Verkhovna
Rada, M.V.D.,
S.B.U., hierarchs of traditional Ukrainian churches, and
believers of the
UPTsMP with regard to the "anti-Ukrainian activity of the
Ukrainian
Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate (UPTsMP) on the
territory of
Ukraine." The deputies adopted this appeal at a session on 21
December and
sent it on 24 December to "Bitvazaurozay" with a reference to
"IA ZIK."
The
deputies are
convinced that "for concealing their anti-state activity,
structures of
the Russian Orthodox Church (RPTS) on Ukrainian territory
appropriated for
themselves the name 'Ukrainian Orthodox Church.'"
"Such
a
name does not correspond to the anti-Ukrainian contents of the
RPTs and it has
been appropriated illegally. As a result of this deliberate
manipulation by the
RPTs, millions of Ukrainians have been greatly deceived, since
they are sure
that they are attending the Ukrainian Church," the appeal says.
It
is also noted
that with the help of structures of the UPTsMP in Ukraine, a
large quantity of
literature is being published and distributed, which is of an
explicitly
anti-Ukrainian tendency and in their sermons the clergy of the
RPTsMP forbid
believers to worship in the Ukrainian language. The deputies
also point to
incidents of the support by the UPTsMP "of manifestations of
separatism
and Russian military aggression."
Thus
the
deputies of the Lvov provincial council demand:
--to
intensify
the processes of creation of a united local church in Ukraine;
--that
the
Ministry of Information Policy communicate to society
comprehensive information
and disclose the "essence of the anti-Ukrainian propaganda and
schismatic
activity of the UPTsMP:"
--that the Security Service of Ukraine (Sluzhba Bezopasnosti Ukrainy--SBU) adopt urgent measures and examine the probable participation of clergy of the UPTsMP "in cooperation with the Russian F.S.B. and other special services of the aggressor state." (tr. by PDS, posted 25 December 2017)
