Kostroma prosecutor reports case that sounds like Jehovah's Witnesses

PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE IN KOSTROMA TAKES SPECIAL CONTROL OF INVESTIGATION OF CRIMINAL CASE OF EXTREMIST TENDENCY

The prosecutor's office of the city of Kostroma has verified the legality of opening a criminal case based on indicators of the substance of the crime specified in part 1 of article 282.2 and part 2 of article 282.2 of the CC of the RF (preparing the activity of an extremist organization) on the basis of the incidence of the functioning on the territory of the city of Kostroma of a religious organization with respect to which the Russian Supreme Court has issued a decision concerning its liquidation because of the conduct of extremist activity.

 

According to the account of the investigation, devotees of said organization during 2018 frequently conducted on the territory of the city of Kostroma meetings at which the ideology of the organization was discussed and its illegal activity was propagandized.

 

The investigation of the criminal case is under special control of the prosecutor's office of the city of Kostroma.

 

The law on committing the crimes specified in parts 1 and 2 of article 282.2 of the CC of RF established a penalty in the form of incarceration for a term of up to ten years. (tr. by PDS, posted 27 July 2018)
