COMPULSORY RENAMING OF UKRAINIAN ORTHODOX CHURCH RULED ILLEGAL BY DECISION OF KIEV COURT
The actions of the speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, Andrei Paruby, during the adoption of law regarding renaming the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church were ruled by a district administrative court of Kiev to be illegal. This was reported by the head of the Opposition Bloc fraction, Vadim Novinsky, who filed the corresponding lawsuit.
The issue concerns the law on renaming the canonical Ukrainian church as the "Russian Orthodox Church," which was adopted by the Ukrainian parliament. The speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, Andrei Paruby, forced the deputies to vote two times running for the draft law in order to get the result the Ukrainian authorities needed. The court found these actions to be illegal.
"Now the question about the compulsory renaming of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church to please Petro Poroshenko and his inner circle has been taken off of the agenda," Novisnky announced joyfully on his Facebook page.
We recall that the law about renaming the canonical Ukrainian church was adopted against the backdrop of the creation of the so-called Orthodox Church of Ukraine, which gathered under its wing schismatics and sectarians who had been excommunicated and anathematized.
