INVESTIGATORS ESTABLISH CIRCUMSTANCES OF ACTIVITY OF EXTREMIST

The
investigation
division of the chief investigation department of the
Investigative Committee
of Russia for Krasnoyarsk territory has opened a criminal case
provided for by
part 1 of article 282.2 (arranging the activity of an extremist
organization)
on the basis of materials collected by the directorate of the
Russian F.S.B. for
Krasnoyarsk territory.
According
to the
preliminary account of the investigation, a 47-year-old resident
of Norilsk,
who is the elder of the Norilsk organization of Jehovah's
Witnesses, whose
activity is forbidden by decision of the Supreme Court of the
Russian
Federation, continued despite the established prohibition to
conduct extremist
activity in the interests of said organization. The suspect
arranged meetings
of followers and members of the aforesaid association and also
advocated the
activity of the forbidden organization.
At the
present time,
the suspect has not admitted his guilt during questioning. A
measure of
restriction has been selected for him in the form of a signed
pledge not to
depart from his place of residence. The investigation of the
criminal case is
