In January 2023, the J.J. Master Center for Professionalism started its third cohort of the Professionalism Certificate Program. The program offers students experiential learning opportunities that provide a competitive advantage in the workforce through expert-led seminars, book club meetings, peer networking sessions, and a micro internship.
The program concluded on April 21st with the participation of nineteen students earning their certifications.
Throughout the program, we were honored to welcome Steven Alexander, Chair-elect of the Stetson Board of Trustees, whose participation proved to be an immensely valuable and enriching experience.
The J.J. Master Center also administers the Experiential Learning Requirement (ELR) for the School of Business. Business Administration students must complete two high-impact experiences before graduating, which include internships, study abroad, and significant leadership experience. More than 64% of students completed internships. The Center tracks and encourages timely completion, contributing to Stetson’s terrific placement rate.
Significant effort continues to be made to increase awareness and engagement with students. This awareness comes from creating an ELR Canvas Course that all Business students and faculty advisors are enrolled in to find information about the opportunities. In addition, ELR presentations are conducted in both Professional Communications and Fundamentals of Organizations & Markets classes to get the word out to first-year and sophomore students. These courses also provide career-related projects that reinforce the ELR. The Center also stays in touch with our students providing regular outreach and information sessions about the Experiential Learning Requirement.
