Innovation House Opens

Innovation House, Stetson’s “makerspace” is now open. Located at 234 1/2 E. Michigan Ave (behind the Gillespie museum), Innovation House provides contemporary tools of rapid prototyping to develop and make tangible objects. The facility currently includes 3D printers, a CNC router, a vacuum forming machine, soldering stations, hand and power tools, and space to work on projects.

The first open house will be 3-6pm on Wednesday, September 4th. Everyone in the Stetson community is welcome to drop by. Additional open houses will be scheduled, however individuals and small groups who would like to visit the facility at other times should contact Dr. Bill Ball at wball (at) stetson (dot) edu to make arrangements to do so.

A membership organization is in development to manage the operation of Innovation House. Membership will be open to all Stetson students, faculty, staff, and alumni. Members will have 24/7 access to the space and will manage its operation and support. Innovation House members will also lead Stetson’s participation in community events such as the Orlando Mini Maker Faire.

Innovation House is hosted by Stetson’s chapter of the Association for Computing Machinery and has been provided start up support from the Prince Entrepreneurship program.
