Weekly Reflection 2

Week Two- 1/24 through 01/31/14

For the second week of my internship it was a little easier to keep on track, since I have gotten back in to the swing of things with deadlines and class work. For this week I got a lot done for their website and some more logo and brochure design. I added keywords to their website to help with marketing, so that their website might appear higher on Google and other search engines dealing with aircraft painting. I also created a couple more gallery pages for them including gallery 3, 4 and 5 which included edited thumbnails and enlargement photos so you could see the photos larger when clicked on, on the page. Another thing that I added to their website was their toll free number on their contact page. The last thing that I accomplished for this week was I redesigned their brochure with different photos to show off the company’s skills, and deleted photos so that the brochure would look less cluttered. This was an achievement from last week as well but once I showed them the updated one they wanted me to go back and do more to it since they liked what they saw, but wanted me to take it a step further.

Week Reflection 1

Week One- 01/13/14 through 01/17/14

For the first week of my internship with East Coast Aircraft in Deland was very exciting and busy. The first day I went in they gave me a tour of the facility and showed me where they worked and what they did. After the tour they sat me down in the office and we went over the list that they created for what they wanted me to complete during my time with them. This list was overwhelming to say the least since it was 4 pages in length, but I knew after reviewing it, it would be achievable. Jewel, my contact for my internship sent me a shortened list for what she wanted me to complete for the first week. This list was a lot smaller and less overwhelming and kept me on track all week. What I completed was as listed, I set up their gallery to be able to enlarge their photos when clicked on, went through their website and changed the text within their paragraphs, headings and page titles from East Coast Aircraft Painting Inc. to East Coast Aircraft, I tested all of the links to their Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter to see if they worked and if they didn’t I updated them. For the next week I plan to update their brochure and business card to be less cumbersome and to have an updated logo with the East Coast Aircraft name change. Also I plan to add a new page for the gallery that includes a before & after page that shows what they do in a step-to-step process with the before and after pictures side to side. Also I plan to add the enlarged photos to the existing thumbnails and captions to their picture to indicate what type of job was done.

This blog has been established to host weekly blog posts by students about their internship experiences. Having it outside of Blackboard will make it a resource that persists across semesters and help students learn from the each other. I look forward to reading about and commenting on these posts!
