My second week at Renegade Agent Marketing went by in a flash. We obviously had a holiday weekend and they didn’t need me on Tuesday so I ended up working from Wednesday to Friday. I had emailed the proof sheet to my boss Billy and he really liked the changes. Unfortunately the customer was still unsure about the designs. I sat down to start from scratch and Sean, the website designer that sits next to me, was just encouraging me to stay focused on what they want and not to take it personally. Within minutes I had something new. It was simple yet effective and my boss was impressed how fast I got it done. With that sent off for feedback, I started on my next project which was a logo design for a clothing line that the owners wife was starting up. Talk about high pressure. I met with her and she gave me some drawings that she did and explained to me what she was looking for. She basically wanted a badge or crest of some kind that symbolized what her company was about. I spent Thursday and Friday coming up with a bunch of different designs, converting them to .png files, and sent all of it out before the weekend.
This week really took my photoshop skills to a different level. I have become really comfortable with masking layers and I’m learning more and more tricks. One thing that I took away from the week was not to get discouraged when you have a picky customer. It’s part of the job to try stuff and get feedback until the customer is happy. It’s definitely a nice to have another designer there to give me tips and encouragement. This week was a great learning experience.
