Second Stage 2020-2021 Season

The Past is Prologue: A Virtual Theatrical Event.

This devised production will include monologues from Shakespeare alongside original pieces written by students looking to expose and dismantle the pervasive effects of “privilege” that has resulted in the systemic oppression that is still so prevalent today. There will be three installations themed Confronting the Classics on Race, Confronting the Classics on Gender, and Confronting the Classics on Identity. Each of the three virtual episodes will debut October 8th, October 15th & October 22nd and will found here.

The debut of each performance will include an opportunity to participate in a live-streamed talkback session with cast and crew. More information on this will be added as it becomes available.

Way Things Were, A virtual retrospective of first-hand accounts of Stetson, DeLand, and our corner of Florida

Stetson University Theatre Arts presents “The Way Things Were, A virtual retrospective of first-hand accounts of Stetson, DeLand, and our corner of Florida.” The production is a streamed performance based on little-known – or little-appreciated – events and people from Stetson University, Deland, and the surrounding area.

The text for the performance is based mainly on interviews collected at the West Volusia Historical Society’s Robert M. Conrad Educational and Research Center. It also includes material from the Stetson University archives, historical newspapers, letters, and other remembrances of DeLand citizens.

Debuting April 15th, the performance can be viewed here.
