Immigration Law Student Association (ILSA), Hispanic Bar Association (HBA), and the Food Law Society have partnered on a pro bono opportunity for you all! 🙂

Per ILSA/HBA’s recent TPS Talk event, there are many refugees present in the United States. Locally, there are several various pockets of refugees in the Tampa Bay Area and we will be collecting donations to provide to some nonprofit(s) aiming to assist such individuals. Our goal is to obtain non-perishable food items and hygiene/toiletry products which can later be distributed by a nonprofit in our area. To participate in this NON-legal pro bono opportunity, please gather your donated items, take a picture, drop the items in the collection bins in the Law Library Atrium and email the photo of items to [email protected] who will be keeping a running list and later provide this to Professor Rios when he verifies hours on GivePulse at the end of the semester.  When submitting your hours on GivePulse please list Professor Art Rios as the supervisor.

This is a great opportunity to help others whilst helping yourself obtain some pro bono hours! As this will take place immediately after Thanksgiving, this is a Thanksgiving GIVEBACK initiative. Please consider purchasing some common hygiene items and/or utilizing your leftover canned/packaged food items to help others in need.

The designated drop-off site for your donations will be setup in the Stetson Law Library on the Gulfport campus.

To request your pro bono hours, you will enter the required information on the GivePulse site and select your hours and date/time you dropped off your items. Professor Arturo Rios will be the designated verifier for these pro bono hours, so I will provide his contact information below which you will have to input when requesting your hours on GivePulse later.
