Program Summary
At Freeborn, we believe that people with different backgrounds and cultures make us stronger
as an organization and allows us to deliver better results for our clients. We created our
Diversity Scholarship Award to continue our commitment to creating and maintaining a diverse
and inclusive working environment throughout our firm and strengthen diversity and inclusion in
the practice of law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Freeborn will award $5,000 to eligible 2nd and 3rd year law students, payable toward law
school tuition or other school-related expenses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Eligibility
Rising 2L and 3L law students who meet the selection criteria and have entered into a JD
program at an ABA-accredited law school in the U.S. are eligible to apply for the Freeborn
Diversity Scholarship Award.
Applicants must have a demonstrated record of academic achievement, excellent interpersonal
skills, and an interest in serving the local legal community of one of our five Freeborn offices
(Chicago, New York, Tampa, Richmond, or Springfield).

Selection Criteria
Our scholarship award is based on the following criteria:
\u2022 Academic merit (undergraduate, graduate, and law school);
\u2022 Sincere interest in a Freeborn practice area;
\u2022 Commitment to the pursuit of diversity and inclusion in the legal field;
\u2022 Identification as a member of a historically underrepresented group or demonstrated
commitment to strengthening diversity and inclusion in the field of law;
\u2022 Excellent written communication skills; and
\u2022 Leadership qualities and community involvement.
