Happy New Year and welcome back!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you are 2L, 3L, or 4L taking a seminar or an independent research project (IRP) class this semester to fulfill the upper-level writing requirement, you may be required to watch the Scholarly Writing Series programs, so please<\/em> keep reading.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These programs are available, as web casts on a Westlaw TWEN page entitled, \u201cStetson\u2019s Scholarly Writing Series.\u201d  Each web cast is about 35 to 55 minutes long.  The three programs that are offered in the series are<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Topic Selection and Research;<\/li>
  2. Thesis and Organization; and<\/li>
  3. Proper Attribution and Footnotes\/Endnotes<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    All three web casts (and accompanying handouts) will be available throughout the semester.  The three quizzes will open on a rolling basis:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    1. Quiz 1, on Topic Selection and Research, opened at 8:00 a.m., Monday, January 16, 2023.<\/li>
    2. Quiz 2, on Thesis and Organization, will open at 8:00 a.m., on Monday, January 30, 2023.<\/li>
    3. Quiz 3, on Proper Attribution and Footnotes\/Endnotes, will open at 8:00 a.m., on Monday, February 13, 2023.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

      All three quizzes will close on Sunday, May 14, 2023, at 5:00 p.m.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

      The three quizzes will serve as the attendance for the web casts.\u00a0 Documentation of who has taken the quizzes will be forwarded to the professors teaching seminar courses or supervising IRPs.\u00a0 Quizzes will not be re-opened after they close.\u00a0 In order to receive \u201ccredit\u201d for the quiz, you must get at least 75% of the questions correct.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      If you have any questions about the Scholarly Writing Series programs in general, please contact me (bowman@law.stetson.edu).  You will find additional information about the programs in the Scholarly Writing Series policy located on the Stetson webpage.  If you have any questions concerning whether your professor requires the Scholarly Writing Series programs or specific questions about your paper, please ask your professor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
