{"id":59329,"date":"2023-01-11T14:00:00","date_gmt":"2023-01-11T19:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www2.stetson.edu\/law\/docket\/?p=59329"},"modified":"2023-01-11T11:50:56","modified_gmt":"2023-01-11T16:50:56","slug":"community-service-opportunity-7","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www2.stetson.edu\/law\/docket\/community-service-opportunity-7\/","title":{"rendered":"Community Service Opportunity"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Mentoring\/Tutoring at Boca Ciega High School<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We have several opportunities at Boca Ciega that can really make a difference in the life of our students:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Mentoring (will resume after winter break ends \u2013 January 9):<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Sessions are held <strong>Monday through Thursday from 10:15-10:45am<\/strong> <strong>or 11:50 \u2013 12:20<\/strong> (student lunch hours).&nbsp;<\/li><li>Most mentors come weekly, but some alternate between in-person and virtual (we have a mentoring app)<\/li><li>Two programs: &nbsp;<strong>Lunch Pals<\/strong> and <strong>Take Stock in Children <\/strong>(TSIC requires the student to comply with certain criteria (e.g., behavior, attendance, GPA)). &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li><li>All Mentors need to:<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Register on the PCS Volunteer page (or update existing PCS Volunteer account): <a href=\"https:\/\/asd.pcsb.org\/schoolwiresforms\/volunteer\/\"><strong>https:\/\/asd.pcsb.org\/schoolwiresforms\/volunteer\/<\/strong><\/a>&nbsp;<\/li><li>Attend a PCS mentoring (live virtual) training<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" type=\"1\"><li>TSIC mentors have 2 more steps because it includes a college scholarship funded by the Pinellas Education Foundation.&nbsp;<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" type=\"1\"><li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cognitoforms.com\/PinellasEducationFoundation1\/_20222023takestockinchildrenmentorapplication\">Complete the TSIC Mentor Application<\/a> <\/strong>(additional info required by the Pinellas Education Foundation, which funds this program)<\/li><li>Click this link to watch the<strong>&nbsp; <a href=\"https:\/\/takestock1.wufoo.com\/forms\/z4q3vbu1r76iac\/\">TSIC Mentor Training Video<\/a><\/strong><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Volunteering<\/strong>: We have a range of opportunities:<\/li><li>Work directly with students in our College and Career Center<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Every weekday during school hours <strong>anytime between 8:00 am and 2:15 pm<\/strong>.&nbsp; &nbsp;<\/li><li>Support is provided for all grades around exploring careers and colleges, navigating the college application process, financial aid &amp; scholarships<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Chaperone field trips<\/li><li>Assist athletics coaches \/ ticket-taking<\/li><li>Clubs:<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>See a list here (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pcsb.org\/cms\/lib\/FL01903687\/Centricity\/Domain\/105\/Club%20organization%20schedule%20822.pdf\">https:\/\/www.pcsb.org\/cms\/lib\/FL01903687\/Centricity\/Domain\/105\/Club%20organization%20schedule%20822.pdf<\/a>)<\/li><li>There are 2 new ones not on the list: <strong>Associ-Asian<\/strong> and <strong>Dance<\/strong><\/li><li>Volunteer at special events (e.g., Prom \/ Homecoming)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>No experience is necessary, we will provide training and resources to help you feel confident.&nbsp;
